The Culture Hub Project

June 9, 2008 by

Culture Hub is an ambitious project that humbly attempts to create a better understanding of and connection between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people within Australia. With the increasing importance of the sustainability of Indigenous Australian culture, Culture Hub is using adaptation and innovation in utilising society’s dependence on modern information and communication technology in a positive way.

We are looking at the potential for innovative information and communication technology mediums, through collaboration, to provide a concrete infrastructure that supports the process of knowledge sharing, and through which Indigenous Australians can be more visible and have a stronger voice. We are developing this idea in order to create further opportunities for the sharing of information to a mass audience, by means of an educational and information-based interactive platform, and linking this to a range of additional design applications.

Culture Hub has endeavored to open up this unique and sacred culture through exploration, for the sustainability of Indigenous Australian culture, and the cultural history of our country.

On Thursday 5 June 2008 our team presented our final research and outcomes. Some of these can be found under the ‘Culture Hub Outcomes’ page.

SCHOOL ACTION PLAN

Powderfinger frontman Bernard Fanning has spoken out about the need for Indigenous children to learn about their culture in schools.

The Brisbane rock band took a break from preparations for next month’s national theatre tour to visit a school in Brisbane, as part of reconciliation week.

The school is one of more than 400 across Australia to adopt a Reconciliation Action Plan, a program established to enhance relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people.

A few thousand words and a design proposal lighter…

May 15, 2008 by

On Tuesday 13 May I had the great privilege of submitting our Design Research Proposal.

The proposal outlines our project objectives, research methods conducted, design constraints, audience, proposed outcomes, visual reference and much more.

Some key spreads from the proposal can be found under the Culture Hub Design Proposal page.

Our next step is to develop and complete the design outcome prototypes we have discussed within the proposal.
